Say Hello to Aspiring Fashion Designer, Daneika Bowrin.

Fashion design, described as the art of application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories, is an extremely competitive part of the industry to become a part.Despite that, young aspiring designer Daneika Bowrin has made it her dream to one day join other successful designers on their journey and leave her mark on the world. I caught up with Daneika to get to know her and her story and find out how she plans to make her dreams a reality. I'm glad I got the opportunity to interview her and hope you guys enjoy this article and take something from it to help you guys move forward.

1. Could you give some insight into your childhood?

I live with my aunt and two cousins in the area of Arouca. I visited my Dad frequently and spoke to my mom often via telephone as she lives abroad. My family would describe me as well rounded, curious, creative and caring. Those are the qualities that make up Daneika Bowrin today.

2. Is anybody in your family involved in fashion?

Unfortunately no but I hope to be the first.

3. When did you realize that you wanted to be a fashion designer?

Quite late actually. I went through the majority of my secondary school years aiming for quite a simple life, I had intentions of becoming a flight attendant. I was always creative but it was not until i volunteered myself for the challenging task of sewing and designing all of the band costumes for my team for an upcoming sports day. Fashion just did not seem like an option for me at the time. It's strange to be honest because I believe my family, friends and teachers foresaw my destiny as they always called me diva, complimented the way I dressed and often critiqued my attire.

4. What steps are you taking to achieve your goals?

At the moment I'm home doing independent studies to improve my drawing and sewing skills and I'm also studying for the SAT examinations this year with hopes of attending college to further my education in fashion design.

5. If fashion design doesn't work out for you, do you have a plan B?

No, Fashion design is the goal. I simply don't have the time to think of another option as I'm too focused trying to achieve this one.

6. I realized you made a good amount of clothing, where did you learn to sew?

My aunt showed me how to sew.

7. What school do you want to go to study fashion design?

My dream school is The Fashion Institute of Technology

8. Do you have a support team to help with making your dreams a reality or are you working on your own?

My family and friends are my main support group, they even seem more excited than me at times when I launch a new issue on my blog and are always eager to help in any way possible.

9. Are you inspired by any local and foreign designers?

I'm inspired by Adrian Foster and now street wear designer Rihanna.

10. Do you want to start your own brand or do you want work under an established fashion house like Gucci?

The goal is to open my own fashion house "infinxinfin" but if that means working under an established fashion house to become more reputable then that's what I will do.

11. If you could work with anybody in the world to do a first collection, who would it be?

The singer/designer Rihanna

12. Do you have any advice for individuals that also want to get into the fashion industry like yourself?

I don't think I am qualified to give any advice about getting into the fashion industry as I am not there yet but for persons with intention, my advice would be to just get started. It may seem scary and overwhelming at first but once you set the foundation it's only building from there.
